Intervention With Abusers
February 27, 28 and March 1, 2012
The 20 hour training will be conducted over a three-day period. The 3 day training will identify theories and current trends of partner abuse intervention and provide opportunities for practical application in the delivery of those services. Participants will meet in small groups to refine skills, increase competency, problem solve and apply intervention strategies. Activities will include lecture, small group discussion, role-play exercises, and video presentations.
This training meets the requirements for the 20 hour training needed for Illinois State Protocol compliance. Cost of training is $120, additional discounts apply if two or more from same agency attends. Seating is limited to 20 participants and training will be held at our South Loop Offices (1455 S. Michigan Suite 230, Chicago IL). Registrations must be received by February 22, 2012!!! CEU's will be provided for LPC, LCPC, LSW, LCSW and ICDVP. Trainers Bio's
Michelle Maldonado, BA, CPAIP
Michelle has over ten years of experience of working with perpetrators of domestic violence. Her background also includes over eight years of experience in the mental health field, which included facilitating groups. She currently serves as Secretary of the Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professionals (ICDVP) Board of Directors and is part of the IDHS Partner Abuse Services Committee. She currently co-facilitates groups for perpetrators of domestic violence at Salvation Army Family Services and Deer (Re)habilitation Services.
Dr. Dennis Deer LCPC, CRC
Dennis has nearly 15 years experience working with perpetrators of domestic violence and providing a myriad of counseling services to disadvantaged populations. In addition, Dennis has over 10 years of experience training law enforcement professionals. Dennis serves on many Board of Directors including IDHS Partner Abuse Services Committee, 7th Congressional Criminal Justice Advisory Committee (chair), 2nd County District Advisory Committee (chair), North Lawndale Employment Network, Sheriffs Reentry Task force and several others. Dennis currently serves as President and Founder of Deer Rehabilitation Services Inc. and has trained thousands of individuals locally and nationally.
